Fill Alaska With Windmills?

Letter to the Editor – by Bill Hamm

The Princeton Study on Netzero America

Do you have any idea of the impact on the land that the Democrats want to use for wind and solar?  A study was performed by Princeton University and the interim results were published this past December.

This 345-page study has an interesting comment on page 172.  Cumulative total wind and solar farm area by 2050 is 1 million square kilometers (386,102 square miles or approximately 621 miles on a side). This area is the same area as the combined states of Alaska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and West Virginia combined, according to the study.

So, while Germany has stopped building windmills and is not replacing them when they fail because they aren’t cost effective, Democrats want the US to go whole hog down the same path Germany went.

I don’t know what schools these people went to, but I learned that something with substantial mass has a gigantic amount of energy as compared to movement of air (wind) or the highly distributed energy from the sun.  Any high school student has probably heard of Einstein’s E=mc2.
